In 2015, Gerald was seen in the crime drama “Focus”, starring Will Smith, followed by his role in “The Disappointments Room” in 2016. Worth mentioning is Gerald’s lead role in the 2012 historic drama “Red Tails”, also starring Cuba Gooding Junior, which was nominated for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA (Saturn Award) for Best Action/Adventure Film. The movie had 28 award nominations, and won four. In 2009, Gerald co-starred in “Get Low”, a mystery drama about a real-life legend from Tennessee who threw his own funeral. This movie was based on the novel of the same title by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, and was rated as an emotional story with a nice ending, so it isn’t surprising that it won the Heartland Film Truly Moving Picture Award.
